Do DSE products require preparation before installation?
All custom fiberglass subwoofer enclosure parts must be cleaned prior to painting.
Materials required:
Clean rags
3M #7447 Scotch brite pads
2 clean buckets
1,1,1 - trichlorethane - a readily available, non-flammable solvent
- Place trichlorethane in each of the buckets designating one (1) bucket "dirty" and one (1) bucket clean.
- Using a rag and the "dirty" bucket of solvent, clean all surfaces of the product thoroughly to remove the release agent. be sure to clean all surfaces, even those surfaces which will not be painted.
- After the first washing has dried, use the scotch brite pad and clean bucket of solvent to scrub all surfaces to be painted. when the product has dried the surface should be dull and slightly scratched. if any shiny spots appear they must be rescrubbed until they are dull.
Note: All of our products are maunufactured and shipped to you primed with Duratec Polyester Primer, although the subwoofer enclosures may possess mold removal wax on the surface, therefore it is imperative to follow the above procedure to ensure maximum paint adhesion and quality.
